SAMBA, Nov 18: SKUAST-Jammu organized training programme on soil health testing today at village Patiari Katna of Samba district, under the guidance of Dr J P Sharma, Director Research of SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme was coordinated by Dr P. K. Rai along with a team of scientists of SKUAST-Jammu, officers from NMAET and NABARD, Jammu and Department of Agriculture, Government of J&K.
Dr P K Rai, Sr Scientist, ACHR, mentioned the importance of soil health testing for boosting productivity.
Dr A. P. Rai, Jr. Scientist, Soil Science and Agril. Chemistry, explained the farmers about the detail procedure of soil sampling and resources for testing samples. Surinder Kumar, DDM, NABARD, gave details of Government schemes that could benefit the farmers and ensured full cooperation with university in implementing the beneficial schemes for farmers.
Ashok Gupta, Deputy Director, NMAET, and Ajeet Singh, AEO, also spoke on the occasion about schemes available with their respective departments for benefits of farmers.
