JAMMU, May 29: To aware the faculty and students regarding conservation of biodiversity, a mega event was organized at SKUAST-Jammu, here today, wherein faculty members and students of faculty of Agriculture, and Basic Sciences were present.
On this occasion, Prof P K Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J, was the chief guest. He stressed upon the importance of conserving biodiversity in our day today life and urged upon the scientific fraternity and students to give their immense contribution in conserving the diversity of nation.
Earlier, Director Education, Dr T A S Ganai presented the welcome address and briefed about the importance of celebration of this day.
Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr D P Abrol, discussed about the recent scenario of our country in the production of biodiversity. He gave a detailed presentation on the biodiversity of India as well as whole world.
During the programme, two mega events were also organized on Declamation and Drawing competition on the subject of biodiversity conservation.
Riya Singh, Sarita Malik and Ishwarya Arora were awarded first, second and third, respectively whereas in the drawing completion, Yashavi Khajuria, Anchal Kumari and Priya Gupta were judged first, second and third, respectively.
Dr Parshant Bakshi, Nodal officer of this event, also delivered lectures on various aspects of food security and also conducted the drawing competition and declamation.
Overall programme was managed by Dr Arvinder Singh, Dr Subhash Kashyap, Dr Sanjay Khajuria, Dr Kiran Kour, Dr Vikas Sharma, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Dr Vivak M Arya, Dr A K Singh, Dr Anil Bhat and Dr Amit Jasrotia.
At the end, students took a pledge to maintain biodiversity on the mighty blue planet. Ali Haider Shah and Yashavi Khajuria conducted proceedings of the programme. Atlast, Dr Parshant Bakshi, Nodal Officer presented vote of thanks.
