JAMMU, Mar 11: SKUAST (J) conducted a demonstration in Pangli Khor to make orchardists familiar with the management of orchard soils involving the use of microbial inoculants adjunct to inorganic fertilizers for site specific nutrient management under the project sponsored HTMM, ICAR.
As per a release, orchardists from different locations in the vicinity of Khor area participated actively. Joginder Singh a prominent orchardist and chairman of Panchayat Pangali Colony block Khor was also present. The field functionaries who attended the programme included Jai Singh from Department of Horticulture, Khor. The farmers emphasized on the need of such programmes in future.
Dr A K Bhat Principal investigator of the Project gave the importance of site specific nutrient management for sustainable fertility and productivity of orchard soils under upcoming guava orchards in the area.
