SKIMS withdraws 66 posts

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR June 15: The Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) has withdrawn 66 posts that were illegally advertised despite General Administration Department (GAD) clear directions to refer these posts to Service Selection Board (SSB).
Last year in May GAD returned a SKIMS file on recruitments in the Institute giving the Director SKIMS one time exemption for filling up of 117 non-gazetted posts and referring others to JKPSC and JKSSB.
“On consideration of the matter, the approval of competent authority, as one time exemption, is conveyed to Director SKIMS to fill up non-gazetted 117 posts at his own level by following due procedure of selection prescribed by the constituted committee. Further, it is advised that 121 Class-IV vacancies be referred to GAD in terms of SRO-404 of 2018 dated 15-09-2018 for their onward referral to the JKSSB”, read the communication (UN No. GAD(Adm)51/2020-IV dated 29-05-2020) of the GAD to SKIMS.
“It is also conveyed that in future all the vacancies (Gazetted, N0n-Gazetted and Class-IV) be referred to GAD for further reference to the concerned selection agencies like JKPSC and JKSSB”, the communication further read.
However, in violation of the GAD order (UN No. GAD(Adm)51/2020-IV dated 29-05-2020), SKIMS advertised (Under Advt notice 3 of 2020 dated 26-06-2020) 183 posts instead of 117 in June 2020.
An official said that after former and present Additional Director SKIMS raising objections over the selection process of 183 which was in excess of 117 posts, SKIMS withdrew 66 advertised posts (No. SKIMS 302 13 18 12/2020-2084-92 dated 05-06-2021) and the notice was uploaded on SKIMS website yesterday.
The posts which were withdrawn include 3 Nutrition Educationists, 2 Lift Mechanics, 2 Technicians (medical group), 4 Technicians (burn Unit), 2 Anaesthesia Technicians (burn ward), one Junior Engineer (laundry), 22 Assistant cooks, 7 Stewards, 7 Junior Pharmacists, 3 Technicians (Telecommunication), Technicians CSSD and 10 Medical Record Assistants.
An official said that as the former AD raised objections over the advertisement of excess posts, the entire selection process got delayed and one year has passed and the selection process is yet to get completed. He said that Director was reluctant to fill up all the 183 posts but the AD was against it, giving reference of the GAD order on SKIMS recruitments.
