SKIMS celebrates 32nd Annual Day

Srinagar, Dec 5: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura today celebrated the 32nd Annual Day which coincides with the birthday of National Conference (NC) founder and former Chief Minister Sheikh Muhammad Abdulah.
A SKIMS spokesperson said the day was observed to commemorate the contributions of Sheikh Abdullah in establishing the institute in 1982 with prime objective to provide specialized healthcare services to the people of Kashmir.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Central University Professor Mehraj-ud-Din Mir was the chief guest, who applauded doctors at SKIMS for their contribution and serving in their home State.
Director SKIMS & ex-officio Secretary to Government Dr Showkat Ahmad Zargar paid tributes to Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah and ex-directors for their great contribution in making SKIMS prestigious institute of the State which serves thousands of patients particularly the poor and needy who can’t afford the treatment outside Kashmir.
He highlighted the activities and achievements of SKIMS.He enlisted key projects upgraded and under execution and various state of art machinery and equipments put in place during last few years.
Dean Academic SKIMS Dr Gul Javid in his address highlighted the academic achievements of the college.
Head of the Department, Endocrinology and coordinator of the event, Dr Bashir Ahmad Laway welcomed guests.
Dr R.B Ahuja, who is Head of Department of Burns, Plastoc, Maxillofacial and Microvascular Surgery, LokNayak Hospital New Delhi, was guest of honour and he delivered Sher-i-Kashmir Oration.
Besides, the annual report of SKIMS 2015 and two books namely Benign Anorectal disorders edited by Dr Fazal Q Parry and Dr. Nisar Choudhary  faculty from department of General Surgery SKIMS and Competetive Nursing Examinations written by Dr Muneera, Associate professor Madre-Meharban Nursing College SKIMS, were also released on the occasion.
