SKEWPY, JKSES right initiatives to address unemployment: Sham

JAMMU, Nov 3: Describing Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) and Jammu and Kashmir State Self Employment Scheme (JKSES) as right initiatives to address unemployment problem in the State, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today said that added endeavours are required to popularize these most effective self employment scheme amongst the youth to encourage them to avail the benefits and grow as independent livelihood earning entrepreneurs.
This was stated by the Minister after inaugurating an employment fair organized by Rural Development Department at Akhnoor.
Mr. Sham said that various measures aimed at ameliorating the lot of educated youth of the State have already been initiated during the last four years which are showing visible impact on ground. He stressed upon the unemployed educated youth to avail the benefit of such employment fairs by knowing about the self-employment schemes started by the Government to create employment opportunities.
The Minister said that though the Government would explore all possibility to create jobs in public sector, but the educated youth should also come forward to set up their income generating self employment units to earn with dignity and honour and contribute in the state economy. He also stressed the need for creating maximum awareness about the State and Centrally sponsored self employment schemes among the unemployed youth so that they could set up their own income generating units for economic prosperity.
Mr. Sham called upon the district officers of different departments to hold series of awareness campaigns in their respective jurisdiction to educate the youth about various welfare schemes. He also instructed the local administration to organize such type of employment fair at Chowki Choura Block within 15 days. The Minister also asked the concerned officers to establish a Single Window System at the office of BDO for providing information about the employment schemes.
Mr. Sham instructed the District Development Commissioner and SDM Akhnoor to review verification of NGOs, which are working in Akhnoor Tehsil.
The Minister later took a round of the mela and inspected the stalls set up by various departments for disseminating information about welfare and other schemes launched by them.
On the occasion, the Minister also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries under floriculture benefit scheme.
The representatives of various Government organizations also spoke on the occasion and informed the participants about the welfare schemes like Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (ILFS), Himayat and Uddan which provide skilled education to unemployed youth of the State. They also informed that about 45000 to 50000 unemployed youth are presently receiving Voluntary Allowance under the scheme.
District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, Director Horticulture, J. N. Sharma, Director Floriculture, K. K. Sharma, SDM Akhnoor, SDPO Akhnoor, Deputy Director (Central), Baldev Raj Sharma, Deputy Director ISM, Kashmir Singh, Deputy Director Employment Exchange Jammu, CMO, Jammu, BMO Akhnoor, Sarpanchs, Panchs and all sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
