Six gamblers arrested with stake money

JAMMU, Feb 21: Police Station Jammu City today arrested six gamblers along with stake money of Rs 30,000.
“A police team of police station City headed by SHO Inspector Vijay Kumar assisted by Incharge police post Hari Market Sub Inspector Ravi Kumar, while on patrolling duty, received information regarding gamblers in Hotel New Swastik near Sunder Singh Gurdwara Road in the jurisdiction of police station City,” a police official said.
He said acting swiftly, the police team raided the Hotel and caught six gamblers along with Rs 30,000 of stake money and one deck of playing cards. “In this connection, a case under Section 13 of Gambling Act was registered at police station City and the accused were arrested,” he said, adding, further investigation of the case was going on.
The official said that the accused were identified as Mohammad Amir Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool Bhat of Parimpora (Srinagar), Ishfaq Nazir Banjari son of Nazir Ahmad of Rainwari (Srinagar), Mudasir Ahmad Haji son of Abdul Salam Haji of Qamarwari (Srinagar), Shabir Ahmad Batt son of Abdul Rashid Batt of Bemina (Srinagar), Abdul Ahad Kawa son of Ghulam Rasool Ahad of Aqal Mir Khanyar (Srinagar) and Bilal Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohd Khan.
The overall arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO North Sharad Kalu.
