JAMMU, Jan 22: To ensure that safe and nutritious food is served to the customers, a special inspection drive was conducted by Food Safety wing of Food and Drug Administration with in municipal limits of Jammu.
The team of Food Safety officers headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Municipal Limits Jammu, randomly checked various food establishments at Channi Himmat and Residency Road area of Jammu.
During the drive, six food establishments namely Kashmir Flavors, Wimpy’s Restaurant, Mild Cafe at Channi Himmat, Mughal Darbar, Hotel Naaz and Gulzar Hotel were challaned for unhygienic cooking conditions. Samples of cooked non-vegetarian food articles were also lifted from Kashmir Flavors, Billu di Hatti and Naaz Hotel and sent to food testing laboratory for quality analysis.
The inspection team also lifted seven samples of sesame (Til oil) from prominent outlets and sent to food testing laboratory for analysis. Besides, the team spread awareness on segregation of vegetarian and non vegetarian food amongst food handlers during the drive. The shopkeepers dealing with food articles were also made aware on Food Safety rules.
The team was comprised of Food Safety officers Ajay Khajuria, Daleep Singh and Saba Rasool.
