SIU seizes 2 cars, bike during raids

Srinagar, Aug 29: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police today carried out searches in Rawalpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district in connection with case of attacks on non-local labourers.
“Continuing its crackdown on terror elements, SIU Shopian today in continuation of investigation in case FIR No. 126/2023 U/S 307 IPC 7/27 IAA, 16,18,20,23,38,39 UAP Act, on disclosure statement of accused namely Adnan Shafi son of Mohd Shafi Shah conducted raids and searches in residential houses of Zahid Ahmad Shah son of Ab Gaffar Shah, Hanzil Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Maqbool Shah and in house of accused in discussion”, said a police spokesperson in a statement.
“Moreover, a raid and search was also conducted in the Matting Shop of Mohd Yaqoob Shah son of Mohd Sultan Shah, resident of Rawalpora at New Colony Gagren. During search, one hand grenade was recovered from a Hyundai Venue car bearing Regd. No JK22C-1511 which was accordingly seized in the instant case from the residential house of Mohd Yaqoob Shah son of Mohd Sultan Shah,” the spokesperson said.
“Moreover, one Tata Nexon Car bearing Regd. No JK22B-6400 and a Duke Motorcycle bearing Regd. No. JK22C- 2736 were also seized from the compound of Mohd Yaqoob Shah and have been seized in the instant case for being used directly or indirectly in the commission of the crime”, read the statement.
