SIT set up in girl’s murder

KATHUA, Jan 18: Kathua Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Border, Raghbir Singh to probe the mysterious death of an eight year tribal girl whose body was found in forests of Patta Rasna in Hiranagar area of Kathua district yesterday.
SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary told Excelsior that the team will hold investigation of the case to ascertain acts about the mysterious death of the girl who was reportedly missing since January 12 from her village and yesterday her body was found with some injury marks in the nearby forests.
He said some suspects have been picked up by the Police and they have been put to questioning. But so far no clue has been got. However, the search operations have been launched at various places.
The SSP said that Board of Doctors was also constituted yesterday and postmortem of the girl was conducted but the report is still awaited. He said earlier a FIR was registered in Police Station Hiranagar regarding missing of the girl but after the body was recovered it was converted into murder case.
Meanwhile, ABVP Unit Kathua has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits responsible for the heinous act and also demanded that tough laws be framed to punish the culprits who are responsible for such crimes.
