JAMMU, Apr 2: In a major step towards ease of doing business in the State, the Government has simplified the procedures for registration or renewal of tourist units through single window clearance mechanism.
In an order issued by the Department of Tourism, Director Tourism Jammu and Director Tourism Kashmir have been nominated as the prescribed authorities of their respective jurisdictions for consideration of applications for Registration or Renewal of tourist units under the registration of Tourist Trade Act-1978 through single window clearance system.
Online/ offline applications for registration/ renewal/transfer of registration of tourist units under the Act will be submitted to the respective Directors of Tourism who will examine the application (s) as per a prescribed check list and conclude the registration or renewal process including issuance of certificate of registration within a period of one month from the date of receipt of the application.
As per the order issued by the Government, for Hotel /Guest House/ Restaurant/ Camp Hotel/ Other tourist Units operating continuously for the last twenty five years the validity period of renewal shall be for fifteen years. For Hotel /Guest House/ Restaurant/ Camp Hotel/ Other tourist Units operating continuously for the last ten years the validity period of renewal shall be for ten years. Similarly, for the Hotel /Guest House/ Restaurant/ Camp Hotel/ Other tourist Units operating continuously for the last five years the validity period of renewal shall be for five years ,whereas the validity period of fresh registration of Hotel /Guest House/ Restaurant/ Camp Hotel/ Other tourist Units shall be upto five years.
The order says that the registration (renewal or fresh registration ) validity shall be subject to clearance from the Pollution Control Board and the J&K Fire Services Department, as per the periodicity decided by these two authorities, failing which action including shutting down can be taken.
For facilitation of online submission of applications for registration of Tourist Units, the Director Tourism Kashmir and Jammu will host and maintain a website of the Department.
The Department would also maintain a unified database of registered units of different categories for the benefit of all stake holders including tourists.
