RAJOURI, Aug 25: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, a team of Executive Magistrates conducted simultaneous administrative inspections of 47 schools in 12 Tehsils of the district today.
The teams inspected maintenance of movement registers, inspection registers, leave accounts, sanitation facilities and attendance records of both teachers and students.
The schools inspected include 4 in Rajouri, 3 in Nowshera, 8 in Kalakote, 4 in Sunderbani, 4 in Koteranka, 6 in Thanamandi, 2 in Darhal, 5 in Manjakote, 3 each in Qila Darhal and Tryath, 2 in Beripattan and 3 in Siot.
A consolidated report by all the Executive Magistrates from 12 Tehsils has been submitted to Deputy Commissioner for examination and action under rules will be initiated soon. It was found that 12 out of 47 schools have not maintained movement registers despite repeated reminders and inspection registers were not maintained in 8 schools.
Four teachers were found absent from duty during inspection while 57 teachers were found on leave and in many cases the leave was not properly sanctioned or entered in leave account. 14 teachers were found on deputation, deployed or attached on various pretexts. A total of 75 teachers were not available in schools cumulatively while nearly 72 posts were found vacant owing to various reasons.
The surprise inspection was conducted pursuant to decisions taken in meeting of Education Department by Deputy Commissioner on August 22 wherein it was observed that instructions given in previous meetings were yet to be implemented.
The purpose of conducting administrative inspection was to streamline the administration and functioning of schools in a transparent and accountable manner.
This was second major simultaneous inspection after a similar exercise previously conducted for Anganwadi centers and surprise check of availability of Patwaris in field offices.
