NEW DELHI, June 18: Silver prices were up by Rs 117 to Rs 37,517 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firming trend in overseas markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September rose by Rs 117, or 0.31 per cent, to Rs 37,517 per kg in a business turnover of 57 lots.
On similar lines, white metal for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 97, or 0.26 per cent, at Rs 36,975 per kg with a business volume of 1,380 lots.
Fresh positions built up by speculators, tracking a firming trend overseas as the dollar fell — raising appeal of precious metals after the Federal Reserve signalled that the pace of policy tightening will be gradual — helped silver futures to rise.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.3 per cent to USD 16.17 an ounce in Singapore today. (PTI)
