NEW DELHI, July 2:Amid a weakening trend overseas, silver prices fell Rs 90 to Rs 35,944 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.
Silver for delivery in September contracts traded lower by Rs 90, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 35,944 per kg in a business turnover of 289 lots in futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in July was trading Rs 76, or 0.21 per cent lower, at Rs 35,300 per kg with a business turnover of three lots.
In the international market, silver traded 0.2 per cent lower at USD 15.55 an ounce in Singapore, dropping for the sixth day to head for the longest run of losses since March.
Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets ahead of a US employment report that is expected to provide further clues on when the Federal Reserve would raise interest rates kept pressure on silver futures. (PTI)
