JAMMU, Apr 24: Addressing a massive public gathering in Akali Kour Singh Nagar, Digiana, BJP national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa, said that the Sikh community, which has the long history of supreme sacrifices, suffered humiliation, torture and loss of precious lives and properties in 1984 riots when Congress was in power at the Centre. Thousands of Sikh families were attacked, their properties were looted, and damaged and there was no one to come to the rescue of the affected people. For decades the affected families had been knocking doors for justice but it of no use.
Sirsa said that the aggrieved Sikhs got justice when the Modi-led Government came into power at the Centre. He appealed the Sikhs to overwhelmingly support and vote BJP to teach Congress a lesson for its inhuman approach towards the community.
Former MLC and BJP senior leader, Choudhary Vikram Randhawa, while addressing the gathering, said that Congress is dreaming of winning the support of the voters in the Lok Sabha elections but it will never come true as the people had a very bitter experience with the times when this party was in power at the Centre for decades together and in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. The programmes and policies of the Congress were confined to promoting dynastic rule, indulge in corrupt practices and swindling the hard-earned public money.
Randhawa said that Congress cannot escape the wrath of the Sikh community as it gave them tears and wounds. The Congress is going to be wiped out completely as different sections of the society have anger and resentment against it. No pleasing slogans or false promises will serve any purpose and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will put the last nail in the coffin of Congress.
BJP leaders Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Amrik Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, Kanchan Singh, Dr. Surjeet Singh and Santokh Singh also addressed the gathering and sought support for the BJP.
