Sikhs demand 2 seats reserved in Assembly

JAMMU, June 8: Various Sikh bodies under Panthic Morcha have demanded two reserved seats for the Sikh community members in the State Assembly.
Addressing a press conference here today, Panthic Morcha leader Avtar Singh Khalsa urged upon the State Governor to initiate the process of conducting early Delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State. He said Jammu region has been facing injustice since long and the time has come to provide justice.
He strongly demanded reservation of two seats for the Sikh candidates, each one from Kashmir and Jammu regions in the State Assembly. He said minority Sikh community in J&K is demanding justice since long and they deserve the same.
Khalsa said that delimitation was also part of BJP agenda during 2014 elections but it failed to come up to the expectations of the people and fulfill its promise as mentioned in its manifesto. He also demanded rotation of reserved seats and readjustment of territorial boundaries of the Assembly segments.
Senior leaders Mohinder Singh, Manmohan Singh, Harmenon Singh and Balwant Singh Khalsa also accompanied.
