JAMMU, Nov 30: Sikh organizations of J&K including Bhai Kanhaiya Nishkam Sewa Society, AISSF, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Sikh Welfare Society, Gurmat Vichar Manch and ex-members of DGPC Jammu have strongly condemned Nawjot Singh Sidhu, former MP and senior BJP leader for speaking the Shalok from the holy Sri Guru Garanth Sahib while addressing an election rally at Udhampur.
Addressing a joint press conference under the banner of J&K Sikh United Front (JKSUF), Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary, JKSUF, said this type of statement by a senior leader that too a Sikh has hurt the sentiments of Sikh Community.
While addressing an election rally at Udhampur, Sidhu has used the Shalok from holy Shri Guru Granth Sahibas “Ja Toon Mere Wal Hain Tan Kiya Mocjanda, Toon Sab Kich Menu Soanpiya Ja Tera Banda”.
This type of statement is not acceptable to the Sikh community, Avtar Singh said and advised in strong words to Sidhu not to preach religious shaloks from political platform until he is well versed with the meaning of the same.
Mohinder Singh, chief organisor, Bhai Kanhiya Nishkam Sewa Society, strongly condemned the speech of Sidhu and demanded a stern action against him as he has done a religious crime by connecting the Gurubani Shalok with the words used by Arjun while he was addressing Sri Krishan ji Maharaj while in the battle field during Mahabharta Yudh, which is totally wrong.
He appealed the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib to summon Sidhu at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and demand an explanation from a cricketer turned politician and take stern action against him for misusing the holy Guru Granth Sahib teachings and hurting the religious sentiments of the masses.
He also appealed to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to initiate necessary action against his party colleague so that no one can commit such type of mistake in future.
