Sikh intellectuals condemn forcible conversion in Pak

JAMMU, Sept 1: All J&K 1947 Sharnarthees Intellectual Forum today convened an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of S.Paramjeet Singh in connection with forcible religious conversion of a Sikh girl in Pakistan.
The Forum strongly condemned this Shameful act and held Imran Khan’s Government responsible for the same. It demanded immediate restoration of innocent girl to her parents otherwise it will have adverse consequences. The meeting said Sikh religion is a unique religion. “We always respect every religion but in this regard we warn that no body will be allowed to exploit our sentiments and people doing so have to be ready for the consequences”.
Sikh community has always given security to every women of every religion. “We are well aware of our safety and security and our religion has come into being to fight against injustice and oppressive forces and no Sikh believing in the teachings of great Gurus will tolerate such acts as we believe in the theory “live and let live”. The Forum made an appeal to Sikhs brethren at large to get united and teach lesson to radical forces in Pakistan.
Surjit Singh, general secretary of the Forum said that Sikhs have always given protection to every one irrespective of caste creed and colour who approached them for it and they never forced any one to convert to their religion. He said that the act of radicals in Pakistan will be resisted strongly by the community and it will not rest till the girl is restored to her parents.
