POONCH, Nov 19: An impressive Nagar-Kirtan was taken out by the Sikh community and others in connection with the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Poonch town here today.
After the District Administration Poonch granted permission of taking out religious procession, the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee organized Nagar- Kirtan today which commenced from Gurdwara Singh Sabha.
Earlier, the permission was denied by the local Administration on the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, last week. Led by ‘Panj Piaras’ and Guru Granth Sahib mounted on a highly decorated chariot, the Nagar Kirtan after passing through Qila Market, Bus Stand and main bazaar culminated at the place of its origin. Many people participated in the religious procession. They were raising religious slogans and reciting ‘Gurvani Path’.
Deputy Commissioner and SSP Poonch and several senior officers also accompanied besides prominent citizens and former legislators. They greeted the Sikh community on the occasion. The Sikh youth displayed martial art (Gatka) near ITI complex, while accompanying the procession. A community Langar was also arranged for the devotees by the organizers.
