JAMMU, Jan 13: Various Sikh organizations in the State have demanded justice for 1989-riots victims in Jammu region.
In a meeting of the members from Jammu Kashmir Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu, Shiromani Akali Dal (B), SAD  (Asr), Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Intellectual Circle etc, held here today, rich tributes were paid to  the innocent victims of January 13, 1989 anti-Sikh riots  in Jammu and demanded that Ansari Commission report be made public.
A meeting in this connection was held under the chairmanship of  TS Wazir, president SGPB to express solidarity with the families of innocent victims of anti-Sikh riots who were mercilessly killed by the fundamentalists on this day. It is unfortunate that till date not a single  person has been arrested or punished till date.
The Sikh leaders said that neither justice has been done nor adequate compensation and healing touch has been provided to the families of these victims, which is a blot on the secularism and democracy. They alleged that Sikh community is facing  discrimination in every field. This has badly shaken the faith of the minority community. They resolved to approach National Human Rights Commission.
Prominent among those present included, Jathedar Mohinder Singh, Jagjit Singh Jagga, Harjinder Singh,  Surjeet Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Jaspal Singh Mangal, Bhai Gurdev Singh, Surinder Singh Wazir, Manjeet Singh, Mohinder Singh, Manmohan Singh and Suchwant Singh.
