Sidhu alleges fake Facebook account

Chandigarh, July 26
The high profile firebrand Bhartiya Janata Party MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu has alleged the operation of a fake Facebook account in his name. He has lodged a complaint with the Amritsar police to find out the culprit
According to the details available, there has not been any misuse of the account so far. The account operator, posing himself as Sidhu, has been interacting with people listening to their problems and promising solution.
The fake account was brought to Sidhu’s notice of late only. All his press notes, speeches, functions, photographs etc are being regularly uploaded on the account. However, what caused suspicion and alarm was the criticism to power hike and cancellation of flights from Amritsar airport that prompted him to file the compliant.
According to Vineet Joshi, the Media Incharge of Punjab BJP, “taking advantage of the popularity of MP Lok Sabha from Amritsar, Navjot Singh Sidhu some miscreants have opened a fake account on social networking site Facebook in his name”.
He said, the firebrand MP has sought registration of a case against the offender.
In a complaint lodged by his political secretary Gaurav Vasdev to the Commissioner Amritsar police, Vasdev stated that the account is regularly updated with his press conferences, quotes, news contents, photos and other activities related to Sidhu.
The offender acts like Navjot Singh Sidhu and has been interacting with people about the problems they face. Many people on his friends list have raised issues of power cuts, withdrawal of international flights etc.
Sidhu is not the only high profile person whose Facebook account has been faked. There are several others. In this case the person, who has created the account, is impersonating as Sidhu which makes it a serious criminal offence. (PNN)
