Siachen Brigade conducts medical camp

JAMMU, Jan 17: Under Operation Sadbhavana, the Siachen Brigade today carried out a medical and veterinary aid camp for the villagers of Chalunka, Bogdang and Turtuk on Shyok Axis.
The camp was conducted with the core aim to provide free health check-up and veterinary assistance that are not easily available to the locals of the above villages on Shyok Axis and also to acknowledge the assistance being provided by the locals in form of porters and ponies to the Army. The camp also gave an opportunity to the Army personals to interact with the locals.
A total of 4 doctors and 1 ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Mid-Wife) took part in the medical camp. The four doctors were Medical Officer, Dental Officer, Veterinary Officer and Senior Medical doctor with an ANM.
Separate teams were made for providing the treatment to the animals and medical assistance to the people attending the camp. Basic comfort for the locals was taken care of with arrangement of proper seating, etc.
During the camp families from Chalunka, Bogdang and Turtuk villages visited with children and the aged persons. Also, locals with their animals came to the camp for veterinary assistance. Free medicines were distributed and medical advice also imparted to the locals. The dental officer also carried out Oral Hygiene Campaign.
Through the camp a total of 125 locals were provided medical assistance and also necessary veterinary aid was provided to 165 animals which included cows, ponies, goats and yaks.
