The persons whose houses were raided have been asked to appear before the SIA for questioning and investigations in terror funding, sources told the Excelsior.
Raids were conducted at the house of Mohammad Anwar Mir at Bathindi, Hafeez Ullah at Raikka and Mohammad Razaak at Bantalab, all on the outskirts of Jammu City and Hakim-uddin Rana, a retired Master and ex militants at Gursai in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
“The searches were conducted at the residences of persons suspected to be part of terror modules in assisting and financing terrorist activities,” an official statement issued by the SIA after the raids concluded this evening, said.
It added that the searches were conducted by four teams of SIA Jammu led by senior officers.
“During the searches, various incriminating material, mobile phones and electronic gadgets having bearing on the investigations have been seized for further investigations, the statement said.
Sources said focus of the SIA has been on curbing terror financing, creation of OGW network, motivation and recruitment of youth across Jammu region and today’s raids were aimed at this direction.
While most of the districts in Jammu region are free from militancy, the militant commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen through their offshoots have been trying to create their small modules in some districts including Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban to cause terror acts.
The Hizbul Mujahideen has been in the forefront of recruitment and financing while LeT and JeM offshoots always planned the terror attacks. However, their plots have been foiled to quite an extent by security forces.
Sources expressed confidence that during series of raids conducted by the SIA today and earlier, the terror modules and their financing networks will be busted.
