Srinagar, Nov 21: The shutdown in Kashmir today paralysed life in Kashmir, however, some shops and traffic was plying in Civil Line areas in Srinagar.
Most of the shops, commercial establishments, financial and educational institutes and petrol pumps were closed in Srinagar while public transport was also mostly off the roads but some mini-buses, auto rickshaws and taxis were plying.
Large number of shops were open in Jawahar Nagar, Sanat Nagar, Chhanapora, Dalgate, Batwara, Karan Nagar, Kak Sarai and Rajbagh.
In Old City areas falling under five police stations, security forces including police and CRPF were deployed in strength to prevent protests and violence.
In the day, a stone-pelting incident was reported from Soura area of City on private vehicles. In the evening, clashes erupted at Nawa Kadal area of Old City between forces and youth. Police lobbed teargas shells towards the youth and the clashes continued for half an hour.
