Shubham, Mohit of SMVD Gurukul bag 1st positions in Sampurnanand University

KATRA, Dec 20: Shubham Sharma and Mohit Sharma, students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, have secured top positions, securing the maximum marks in the 10th and 8th class examinations conducted in May-June 2017 by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi.
For their outstanding achievements, Shubham will be awarded the prestigious Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Swaran Padak while Master Mohit will be awarded the Vakratund Gold Medal by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya at its Convocation which is being held at Varanasi later this month.
The continuing outstanding performances of the students have been bringing laurels to the Gurukul. It is pertinent to recall that this is for the fifth time, consecutively since 2013, that the students of the Shrine Board’s Gurukul have secured the first position in the entire University in the 8th class examinations and have been winning Gold Medals by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya with which the Gurukul has been affiliated. This year a student of the Gurukul studying in class 10 has also topped the entire University.
Governor NN Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, who has been behind the establishment of the Gurukul and has been constantly monitoring the development of this institution as a Centre of Excellence, has congratulated Shubham Sharma and Mohit Sharma, the management and the faculty, on the noteworthy performance of the Gurukul students.
Of the eight students of the Gurukul who had participated in the State level competition (Shastriya Sparda) organized by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi at its Kot Bhalwal Campus, Jammu recently, 7 secured 1st position and one student stood 2nd in their respective topics of competition. Ankit Sharma and Prikshit Sharma from Shastri Part-I, Nand Lal and Shubham Sharma of 11th class and Anish Sharma, Raghav Ramotra and Goutam Sharma of 10th class secured 1st positions, while Omkar Sharma of 11th class stood 2nd.
