Shubam of SMVD Gurukul bags Vakratund Gold Medal for securing 1st position

JAMMU, Dec 18: Master Shubam Sharma, student of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, has stood first in entire university by securing maximum marks in the annual examination of class 8th, conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyala, Varanasi, in May-June, 2015.
On his outstanding achievement, Master Shubam is being awarded Vakratund Gold Medal by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya at its convocation scheduled to be held on 21st of this month at Varanasi. This is for the third time consecutively that the students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul have secured first position in the entire Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyala in class 8th annual examinations and awarded Gold Medal. Master Shubam, son of Jai Krishan, is resident of Jib.
This was informed during the 27th meeting of Governing Council for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, held at Kalika Dham, Jammu today.
Dr S S Bloeria, Member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for Gurukul, chaired the meeting. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB; Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer of the Shrine Board; Pankaj Gupta, Deputy CEO of the Shrine Board and Administrator of Gurukul; and Gopal Dass Shastri, Head Pujari, Bhawan; participated in the meeting. Dr Bloeria and other members of the Governing Council expressed great satisfaction at the functioning of the Gurukul.
It is pertinent to mention that all the students of classes 8th, 9th and 10th of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul have secured first division in the annual examinations conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyala, Varanasi this year.
The CEO informed that at present 112 students are studying in the 6th to 11th classes in this fully residential Gurukul, which was established by the Shrine Board in July 2010. The students are being imparted education in Vedas, Sanskrit, religious scriptures, Karamkand and Pooja rituals, apart from being taught all modern subjects including Science, Mathematics and Computers. Free education, boarding, lodging, uniforms, books etc to the students are provided by the Shrine Board. The Shrine Board also organizes specially designed training sessions for the students hailing from Purana Daroor and belonging to erstwhile Baridar families to prepare them for the entrance test for admission to Gurukul. This year this coaching session is being held from December 26 to December 31, 2015 at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra for the forthcoming academic session.
The Chairman of the Governing Council also reviewed the progress of works for Phase-II of the Gurukul. It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board has decided to upgrade the Gurukul by making arrangements for Shastri course by mid of 2017.
