KATRA, Dec 21: As earlier decided by Governor N N Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, several civic infrastructure development works, involving an expenditure of about Rs 4 crore are being executed by the Board in Sira-Kakryal and the adjoining area, especially in Sira, which is a colony of the rehabilitated families.
In his report to the Governor, Umang Narula, CEO of the Shrine Board, has informed in detail about these works, which include installation of six Stainless Steel Passenger Sheds at Domel, Manthal and Kakryal, installing 40 LED Solar Street Lights, on each of the turns, curves and dark stretches on the Manthal-Kakryal and Domel-Kakryal roads, landscaping and plantation work along the road etc. This work on the 7.5 km long Domel-Kakryal Road will be taken up immediately after completion of the widening of this road, to enhance the scenic ambience for road travellers.
The drains in Sira Colony have improved the sanitation facilities while pavement of lanes, construction of footpaths and drains in the Bazaar area and installation of street lights have benefitted the residents. The other works which have been completed include the construction of additional accommodation and other facilities in Primary School Sira Colony, Kakryal.
With the construction of the Conference Hall at Sira Colony, Kakryal, about 3000 residents of Sool, Sira, Tareen and Kakryal villages will be benefitted. The Board has also established a Children Playground at Shalimar Park, Katra.
