Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board remains in headlines very often in respect of various envious works and innovative ways to facilitate the pilgrims, has bagged the first prize of the ‘National Water Awards-2019’.
This award sponsored by Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India is in recognition of the praiseworthy efforts of the Shrine Board in protecting and promoting water conservation and also proper management of water in the category of ‘Best Institution /Resident Welfare Association /Religious Organisation for successful campus usage. The Chief Executive Officer of the SMVD Shrine Board while receiving the award termed the award as motivating force towards working more and more to work for better water management.
Only a few days back, Udhampur district depicted an interesting but quite encouraging move of the District Authority in conserving water under a project called as Jeevika, to be used by the farming community for irrigation purposes over who comprise 80 percent of the population there helping in sustainability of livelihood of farmers. In the instant case, again related to scarce water, the Board besides adopting best water management practices and techniques for water conservation, has been undertaking various types of works in the slopes of the Trikuta Hills, installation of water ATMs, recycling of Sewage Treatment Plants water of refuse in flushing of toilet blocks, waterless urinals and rooftop rain water harvesting. The award was going to bolster the morale of the personnel working in the conservation and management of water in the Shrine Board.
