JAMMU, Sept 10: Due to incessant rains in Jammu region recently, heavy floods caused havoc and brought miseries to the people.
In Jammu city particularly the inhabitants of the areas adjacent to the banks of river Tawi had to suffer grimly.
Shri Chander Gufa Sadhna Mandir Ashram established since 1953, which is situated about half a kilometer from Panjtirthi on the bank of river Tawi also got badly affected by this natural disaster.
The ground floor of the ashram was completely submerged in the flood water, which caused losses to the tune of Rs 30 lakh. Moreover, landslides also caused damaged within the premises of the ashram, however no loss of life was reported.
The ashram management has requested the district administration to pay adequate compensation to the ashram, so that it can be resurrected in due course of time and made a prime centre of spiritual sadhna again.
