SHRC seeks report in Pulwama, Budgam incidents

JAMMU, Apr 17: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has taken cognizance of the alleged   disproportionate use of force against students at Degree College Pulwama last week.
In a statement issued today, SHRC spokesperson said that the Chairperson Justice Bilal Nazki took cognizance of the matter and directed Superintendent of Police Pulwama to file a detailed report regarding the matter before the Commission within two weeks.
State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has also taken cognizance of a recent incident where a youth was allegedly tied to a security forces vehicle in Budgam area of Kashmir and has sought report from Police regarding the matter.
In a statement issued today, SHRC spokesperson said the chairperson Justice (retired) Bilal Nazki observed that using a person as a shield is a prima-facie gross violation of human rights.
The Chairperson while taking cognizance of the matter, directed the SSP Budgam to furnish report regarding the same by April 27 and asked him to explain under what circumstances the incident has happened.
