Shopkeepers protest against Traffic Police barricading at Jewel Chowk

JAMMU, May 16: Led by J&K BJP vice-president Yudhvir Sethi, shopkeepers of Jewel area today held a protest against barricading done by the Traffic Police at Jewel Chowk.
A large number of shopkeepers of the area participated in the protest demonstration. They raised slogans against the Traffic Police and demanded that the barricades be removed to ensure free flow of traffic so that the customers can come to the Jewel market.

Interacting with the media during the protest, Yudhvir Sethi said that for last about one week, shopkeepers have been requesting the Traffic Police to remove the barricades from Jewel Chowk but the concerned Traffic Police did not listen to them.
“Seeing barricades, people do not come to the market assuming that the path has been closed,” Sethi said, adding, this is affecting the business of shopkeepers of Jewel Chowk market and their shops are on the verge of closure.
The BJP leader said that he along with the affected shopkeepers met the concerned SHO and got removed these barricades but after some time, the concerned Traffic Police Officer again barricaded this busy road, which is not only affecting the business of the shopkeepers but also creating traffic snarls.
Sethi said that this unnecessary barricading should be removed once for all in the interest of the business community of the area. He appealed higher authorities of Traffic Police to intervene into the matter and remove this barricading so that the shopkeepers of the area can earn their bread and butter.
