Shopkeepers of Rehari flay admn for abandoning work

JAMMU, Oct 20: Shopkeepers Association Rehari Colony, Jammu has expressed grave resentment against the administration for its failure in construction of proper drainage system in the area.
Talking to reporters here today Ashok Anand chairman of the association and its working president, Rajesh Gupta alleged that the contractors assigned the job of laying pipes and repair of the road have failed in completing their assignment due to which the people in general and shopkeepers in particular have been put to many hardships.
They said that some pipes are leaking and some portion of the road has remained still incomplete which is adding to the woes of the people of the area and despite their repeated pleas to concerned authorities no steps were taken to restore the same.
They said failure to repair the road in the area after digging has also led to traffic hazards and jams often take place but no one from Traffic Department bothers to manage the traffic on this busy road.
The school going children and old people are facing more hardships due to abandoning the work by contractors, they said and urged the Government to take immediate steps in repairing the road and laying the pipes failing which the people will be forced to resort to agitation.
They also accused the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) of encouraging the land encroachers in the area to promote the interests of some of its employees.
