Shopkeeper arrested for selling illicit liquor on dry day

JAMMU, Apr 5: Keeping check over sale of liquor on dry day today, police arrested a shopkeeper for selling illicit liquor pouches among the people from Patyalachak area, falling under the jurisdiction of Domana police station.
As per police sources, on reliable information about sale of illicit liquor pouches by a shopkeeper, a team from Domana police station conducted raid in a general store at Patyalachak and recovered 16 pouches of illicit liquor.
Police arrested the shopkeeper, who has been identified as Balbir Kumar alias Billa, son of Rattan Lal, a resident of Patyalachak.
Being dry day today, the accused was selling the illicit liquor pouches among the people on exorbitant rates.
A case under Excise Act has been registered against the shopkeeper at Domana police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Domana Inspector Rattan Singh Rana made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Verinder Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
