AKHNOOR, Jan 29: An impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out in Akhnoor on the eve of Prakash Divas of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj here today.
The Shobha Yatra started from Daskal which was flagged off by SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat who was accompanied by ADDC Jammu Ramesh Chander Uttam, Manoj Kumar president Guru Ravidas Sabha Akhnoor, Retd XEns Madan Lal and Rattan Lal, Insp DK Bhardwaj, Dr Ashok Kumar, Lakhvir Singh, Ranvir Singh, and it culminated at Guru Ravi Dass Ji temple, at Bomal.
As the Yatra proceeded, the devotees swelled in thousands to accompany it. They were chanting Bhajans and dancing to the tune of drum beats in praise of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj -a great spiritual saint of India. The Shoba yatra was organized by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Akhnoor under supervision of Manoj Kumar Uttam-president and secretary, Kewal Kumar.
Ramesh Chander Uttam in his address threw light on the life and teachings of the great Guru and asked the people to follow the path shown by Guru Ravi Dass Ji. He termed Guru Ravi Dass as a great saint of his time who taught love and respect for all the human beings in this universe. He greeted people on the Prakash Divas of the great Guru.
SSP ML Bhagat while greeting the people on this occasion, recalled the teachings of the great Guru and asked people to follow the path shown by him (Guru) for humanity and equality. He said the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji are most relevant even today. The message of Guru regarding love, peace, equality and respect to all should be followed by every human being.
He said the teachings of Ravi Dass Ji have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of cast, creed and colour.
Others present during the Shobha Yatra were Sarpanch Varinder Kumar (Bubby), Retired ZEO Sardari Lal, Ajay Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Sunita Devi and Ashok Kumar.
