UDHAMPUR, Apr 18: On the eve of Ramnavmi, an impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out in the town by Sanatan Dharam Sabha Udhampur with religious fervour and gaiety.
A large number of people and religious and social organizations took part in the procession, which passed through various bazaars of the city before its culmination.
The Shobha Yatra took off from Chowk Chabutra in front of Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha office where District Development Commissioner Udhampur performed prayer before the deities of Lord Rama amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras.
The grand Shobha Yatra comprised of various tableaus depicting life history of Lord Rama and his victory over Demon King Ravna.
Amidst beating of drums and playing of band, the religious procession passed through Gole Market, Mukerjee Bazar, Ram Nagar Chowk, Hospital Road and Sailan Talab before culminating at Venus Chowk.
The organizations, whose Jhankis were part of the procession, included Rama Kala Kendra, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Brahamrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, JK Public School, Little Angled high School, Guru Nabha Dass Sudhar Sabha, Shiv Shakti Kirtan Mandali and Adi Shakti Seva Sansthan, ISCKON, Goverdhan Palace, Akhand Bhagwati Jagran and KC Gurukul Public School.
