UDHAMPUR, May 5: In connection with Bhagwan Parshuram Jayanti celebrations, an impressive `Shobha Yatra’ was taken out in Udhampur town and a grand function was organised by the Yuva Parshuram Dal, here today.
The religious procession took off from Mini bus stand Salian Talab, Udhampur. A large number of people from all walks of life, including women and children, participated in the Shobha Yatra. The participants were raising slogans in the praise of Bhagwan Parshuram. Some people in the `Jhanki’ were singing devotional songs. The procession comprised of various tableaus depicting the role played by different incarnations of God Vishnu.
Earlier in the morning, a ‘Yagya’ was performed at Mini Bus Stand Salian Talab. A community langar was also arranged by the management committee of the Yuva Parshuram Dal. It was followed by ‘Bhajan-Kirtan’ by the devotees who reached there from various parts of Udhampur and surrounding towns.
At around 11am, the ‘Shobha Yatra’ was taken out from Mini Bus Stand Salian Talab. After passing through Venice Chowk, Barrian, Salathia Chowk, Court Road, Mukerjee Bazar, Dabber Chowk, Gole Market, Main Bazar and Chabutra Bazar, the procession concluded at Kargil Hanuman Mandir.
Subash Shastri, a renowned Saint along with followers, senior Congress leader Brij Mohan Sharma, INTUC State Secy Sumeet Magotra, Subash Chander Sharma, Jugal Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Rakesh Khajuria, Kusam Sharma, Sudesh Bharti, Advocate Yog Raj Sharma, heads of various other Sabhas and organisations attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Bhagwan Parshuram ‘Shobha Yatra’ was also taken out at Gangyal in Jammu. A large number of people, including senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla took part in the ‘Shobha Yatra.”
