Shiv Sena stages protest against Hathras rape incident

SAMBA, Oct 1: Leaders of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration against the growing incidents of rape in the country.
Dozens of Shiv Sena activists led by their president, Manish Sahni raised slogans against the rising incidents of rape in UP.
They said cremation of Hathras rape victim by UP police at night is condemnable.
Addressing the protesters Sahni said even after more than 70 years of independence there is an atmosphere of insecurity among daughters of the nation.
“Those who commit heinous crimes like rape should be punished strictly,” he said adding that incidents of cruelty against women in UP are increasing alarmingly.
The Shiv Sena leader claimed that law and order has collapsed in UP and the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proved a failure.
Speaking on the occasion Meenakshi Chhibber, Women Wing president of Shiv Sena J&K said, in the year 2019 there were more than 300 incidents of crime against women.
Citing NCRB report she said 11 rape cases are reported daily in UP and only a less than 20 per cent of the accused are punished.
Shiv Sena General Secretary, Vikas Bakshi; Working President, Ashwani Gupta; Secretary, Raj Singh, Romesh Gupta, Vijay Manwal, Raju Salaria and other were also present in the protest.
