Shiv Sena protests against installation of Smart Meters

JAMMU, Sept 3: Shiv Sena J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration against the installation of smart meters in Jammu city.
The protest was led by Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni and the protesters burnt the effigy of smart meter.
While addressing the protesters, Sahni asked the people to uproot the meters which rob pockets of the public and he also gave the slogan of ‘Free Bijli Pani Hamara Haq’.
He said that J&K has potential to produce about 18-20 thousands MW of electricity due to immense water resources available and the power projects here are producing more than what is required.
“It is legitimate right of the public here to have 24 hour free electricity,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained adding that the government is not losing any opportunity to loot the public to benefit private companies.
Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; chairman, Rakesh Gupta; vice president, Sandeep Bhagat and others were also present in the protest.
