JAMMU, Mar 8: Shiv Sena today said that instead of revoking Article 35-A, it should be suitably amended to safeguard the rights of women.
On the direction of Shiv Sena State president Dimpy Kohli, the Shiv Sena working president Ashwani Gupta and general secretary Rakesh Kak addressed a joint press conference, here today, on the issue and explained the Sena stand on Article 35-A.
“The Shiv Sena is of the view that Article 35-A should be amended and not be removed completely to safe guard the interest of Jammu region. Rights of the women marring outside the J&K should be protected by amending Article 35-A but if it is removed completely, the interests of Jammu people will be compromised as no one will go and settle in Kashmir due to the turmoil in Valley and entire burden of outsiders will be on Jammu region only,” they explained.
