JAMMU, Apr 19: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit has demanded abolition of Custodian Department and ownership rights to the occupants of properties of people who left J&K and settled in Pakistan in 1947.
In a press conference here today Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni said even after 77 years of independence, the local people living in the Custodian Department houses were not given ownership rights on such houses.
“Punjab Government had abolished the Custodian Department in 1990 itself by settling such properties. Now the residents of J&K should also be given ownership rights of these properties,” Sahni maintained adding: “The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should give ownership rights of the custodian property to the people living there with immediate effect and completely end the Custodian Department.”
