KISHTWAR, May 8: President Shiv Sena Tilak Shan has demanded exemption of power tariff for the months of March, April and May keeping in view of ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Shan in his statement has said that erstwhile Doda district is generating thousand megawatt of electricity and is supplied to other States of India but the Government has not supplied even a single unit of electricity free of cost to the residents of the erstwhile Doda district.
“Due to ongoing lockdown, the labourers, poor and needy people living in erstwhile Doda district have no source of income and they are not in a position to deposit their power tariff”, he said, adding that electricity tariff for the months of March, April and May should be exempted by the Government in their favour.
Shan has urged the Lieutenant Governor and Principal Secretary Power Development Department to issue notification regarding the exemption of power tariff for the people living in erstwhile Doda district.
