JAMMU, May 8: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) J&K unit here today expressed serious concern over the alleged attempts to create political instability in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference, J&K Shiv Sena chief, Manish Sahni said that any move to weaken the people’s mandate would be a direct attack on democracy.
He demanded restoration of full Statehood to J&K along with special constitutional safeguards under Article 371.
Referring to a remark allegedly made by a BJP leader after West Bengal election results that “Now it is Jammu and Kashmir’s turn”, Sahni said such statements raise serious questions about BJP’s political intentions.
He alleged that the Centre has failed to fulfil its promise of restoring full Statehood to J&K and added that the elected Government is being deprived of its constitutional authority.
