JAMMU, Apr 24: Group of 50 persons of Balidhani Jatha of Punjab Shiv Sena (PSS) led by its Punjab State President Sanjeev Gilonoia marched towards Jammu and Kashmir to submit a memorandum to Governor, N N Vohra to highlight their demands and register their protest against the stone pelters and demand registration of FIR against the Hurriyat leader and separatists.
But police did not allow them to cross the gate way of the J&K at Lakhanpur and stopped them there.
More than one hundred activists of Shiv Sena along with vehicle were stopped at Lakhanpur. The Kathua police did not allow them to enter due to the security reasons and asked the Shiv Sena activists to hand over the memorandum to them. The Shiv Sena President Sanjeev Gilonoia alleged that the stone pelters are harassing the security forces and Government has not given free hand to security personnel to deal with them .
He said in such way Government wanted to demoralize the security forces which is not tolerable. The SS also warned the Government to make arrangement of Amarnath Yatra tension free so that the pilgrims are not harassed by anti social elements in Kashmir.
Gilonoia alleged that when the time of annual Baba Amarnath yatra begins, the unrest engulfs Kashmir. He said that the ruling alliance has failed to protect the innocent people and security forces have become target of stone pelters .He also demanded the Governor rule be imposed in the State to restore normalcy.
The traffic was suspended for more than one hour on the Ravi bridge connecting to J&K State with Punjab and people especially the commuters and patients going for treatment outside the State were put to many hardships.
Later the Sena activists were motivated to return and only 10 of them were allowed to proceed to Raj Bhawan Jammu and handover the memorandum to Governor.
However these Sena activists met the Principal Secretary to Governor and handed over a memorandum to him demanded that the Government should take all measures to ensure smooth conduct of holy Amarnath yatra. It further demanded that Sena be given free hand to handle the situation in Kashmir.
