Any project slated to be of immense importance from many angles must be constantly reviewed and modalities perused and in this connection , the UT Government lending due attention to it may result in the execution of the prestigious projects smoothly. In this connection, both the temples especially the Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar over viewing famous Dal Lake, being an ancient heritage symbol dating back to nearly 2500 years, to be precise around 371 BC carrying spiritual and religious connotations and Shivkhori , the Holy cave in Reasi carrying religious importance proposed each to have ropeways shall add lustre to their importance from the religious tourism angle besides being convenient for locals too to easily and with pleasure adventure to reach without using other modes including tiring trekking.
It is quite satisfying that while reviewing the modalities and the present status of the twin projects, feasibility reports in respect of similar other two projects regarding Pahalgam- Baisaran and Baltal- Shri Amarnath were discussed . It is interesting to note that Baltal -Amarnath Holy cave axis shall be of the length of 12 Kms passing through breath taking scenic stations of Domail, Brarimarg and Sangam till the ultimate point of the Holy shrine which if decided to accord sanction to the proposed conceived project will be one of the biggest such ropeway projects. For that, it is pertinent that after the completion of the two ropeway projects under reference , the other two proposed could be taken up , of course, depending upon the response and expected dividends from the two projects of Shankarachrya and Shivkhori temples which are expected to be highly encouraging .
Moreover, the added facilities in the shape of the ropeways are without any type of emissions , eco-friendly and least disturbing the forest area through which the ropeway may run. For prospective tourists , the ropeway , therefore, shall become points of attraction ensuring more and more tourists /devotees visiting these ancient Holy temples and giving a boost to local economy in its own form. Projects like the ones under reference definitely add new charm and enthusiasm into the prospects of tourism on the whole being promoted through newer methods and modes . Jammu and Kashmir is basically an environmental sensitive part of the country where tourism has a prime place hence without disturbing forests etc and preventing other ”intrusions ” into the natural ecosystem , such projects play a voluminous part. Gulmarg Gandola high altitude car ride facility in famous tourist resort of Gulmarg in Kashmir proves the point where tourists/ local public have to wait for days to get ”turn” to have the ride. Hence the need arises for more of such high altitude ropeway connecting facilities looking to the highest number of tourists that thronged the famous tourist resort of Gulmarg during the year.
Not only that projects of these types which have a direct bearing on the starting and the connecting points (destinations) having potentiality to provide employment opportunities to local youth but allied facilities and commercial activities too get sprouted. The projected footfall on an average daily of around 10 to 20 thousand pilgrims , if not arrived at on conservative estimates, means a good circulation of commercial processes. Hence parking lots, food courts, shopping areas and the like around these projects become parts thereof as being of great utility to visiting tourists/ public . However, the focus should be on how the two projects are executed at an early date and completed within specific timeline so as to match with the projections that of by 2025 to be dedicated to the public.
