JAMMU, May 24: Demanding increase in the wages, Shiromani Gurmat Granthi Ragi Sabha held a protest demonstration here today.
The supporters of Shiromani Gurmat Granthi Ragi Sabha assembled at Nanak Nagar Gurdwara, raised slogans and demanded increase in the wages of Ragi, Sewadar and Head Priest or Granthi.
Addressing the gathering, President, Shiromani Gurmat Granthi Ragi Sabha said that we the employees of DGPC are getting meager wages of Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000 per month.
“We have no other source of income to prolong the life accept Gurdwara Sewa as Ragi, Sewadar and Head Priest working in different Gurdwaras in the State”, he added.
Later, President along with others submitted memorandum of demands to District Magistrate urging him to mitigate their suffering otherwise they will go on indefinite hunger strike.
