Srinagar, Jan 2: Hundreds of Shiites Muslims of Valley today staged protests against the Saudi regime over the execution of top Shia cleric, Shiekh Nimr-al-Nimr in the kingdom.
Holding placards and chanting slogans against Saud regime, the Shiite protesters took to streets in central Kashmir’s Budgam Town and in Alamgari Bazar here to vent out their anger against the execution. The protesters accused Saudi regime of crushing dissenters’ voice and warned it of “dire consequences”.
The protesters were also holding banners of Hizbollah – the Lebanon-based terror group – and hailed the executed cleric as “martyr”. Almost all the Valley-based Shi’a leaders and clerics have condemned the execution while Itehaddul Muslimeen has called for a protest tomorrow in Lal Chowk, the city centre.
