SRINAGAR, Apr 26: The People’s Democratic Party candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency, Waheed Rehman Para, today said that youth held in various jails across the country should be relocated to local jails and provided with proper legal recourse.
Para made this statement during a public rally in Pulwama area of South Kashmir as part of his campaign. He demanded the transfer of youth from jails nationwide to local facilities for fair treatment, denouncing the current process as punitive and devoid of proper legal procedures.

“I appeal to the LG Manoj Sinha, Home Minister, Amit Shah, and all concerned agencies. The youngsters lodged in jails outside Kashmir should be brought back to local jails. The current system, where those seeking bail receive no support from prosecutors and witnesses fail to appear, has become a severe punishment,” he said.
Para highlighted the plight of families with relatives behind bars, stressing the urgent need for action. “If the Government fails to address these issues, then elections lose their significance. We implore the authorities to consider our demands and bring back youth on compassionate grounds, ensuring they receive fair treatment under the criminal justice system and exercise their right to bail,” he said.
Reflecting on recent political dynamics, Para reiterated the party’s commitment to representing the people’s voices. “Despite challenges, our alliance remains with the people. We aim to amplify the grievances and aspirations of people.” he said.
In response to criticism from other political figures, Para reaffirmed the party’s dedication to Kashmiris. “Our fight is for the relevance, dignity, and acceptance. While some may question our relevance, we stand firm in our commitment to the people. We are willing to step aside if the National Conference wishes to lead the charge under the PAGD banner,” he said.
Para acknowledged the existing political vacuum and stressed the importance of connecting with the people. “Through elections, we bridge the gap between the leadership and the people. We strive to uphold Mehbooba Mufti’s stance, ensuring that the people remain at the forefront of our agenda,” he said.
He urged voters to participate in the democratic process. “Just as in 2019 when people exhibited wisdom by staying home, I urge everyone to exercise their vote wisely. By casting their votes, the people of Jammu and Kashmir can shape their future,” he said.
