Speaking to the reporters on the occasion, Dr Farooq Abdullah said Sher-e-Kashmir’s legacy of unimaginable struggles for the dignity of his people provides a guiding light for not just the party but the people of Jammu and Kashmir as a whole. “In Sher-e-Kashmir’s legacy we find answers to many challenges that we are faced with today, including a challenge to our special status and unique political identity. The best tribute to `Sher-e-Kashmir’ would be to leave no stone unturned to fight for the honour and dignity of our people who have suffered immensely due to various political machinations, instability and turmoil”, Dr Abdullah said.
On this occasion, Omar Abdullah while paying glowing tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, said the party was committed to nurture the cherished goal of `Sher-e-Kashmir’ to fight for the restoration of the political dignity and rights of our people. “Sher-e-Kashmir continues to inspire us to be united in our common mission to protect our State’s honour and dignity against those divisive forces who are hell-bent to fragment and divide us on the basis of religion, region and language.
” Sher-e-Kashmir’s statesmanship was defined by his secular thinking, his inclusive approach and his sense of justice for one and all without fear and favour. It is this statesmanship that should encourage us to face every adversity with courage and conviction”, the National Conference working president said.
Several senior Party leaders, office bearers and legislators also spoke on the occasion and participated in the congregational Fateha Khwani and paid floral tributes to late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah.
