Shastri urges MPs to highlight demands of working class

JAMMU, July 23: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed Parliamentarians of Jammu & Kashmir to raise issue of regularization of nearly sixty one thousands daily rated workers working in the various departments of the State Government in current monsoon session of Parliament, so that working class could get sigh of relief.
He has appealed these Parliamentarians to raise the issue of granting of special package to tune of Rs 9000 cores to ward off expenses on account of regularization and payment of arrears of 7th Pay Commission to the employees of the State Govt and pensioners in one go.
Shastri, while highlighting these issues during a meeting of NMC activists here today, suggested that a delegation of Parliamentarians from Jammu & Kashmir should visit Prime Minister residence to draw home the point besides Union Finance Minister. He reminded that 61 thousand daily rated workers, nearly 4,50,000 State Government employees and 1,00,000 pensioners have given a clear mandate to these Parliamentarians on this and other issues. “They should not ignore these sentiments. The workers and employee constituency commands nearly 80 percent of the total electorate,” he added.
Pleading the cause of both Centre and State Government employees as well as pensioners, the Shastri demanded that 7 percent DA, due from July 1, 2017 should be released in favor of the employees of the State Government and pensioners in view of sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities and inflation. He also suggested that till the process of regularization   gets completed, separate wage heads be created for early settlement of their claims and salaries as presently they are left without salaries for months together.
Justifying the demand of clerical cadre to remove all inter cadre anomalies, Shastri said that the Chief Minister should personally intervene and settle this issue. He also stressed upon the need to issue notification regarding raise in the amount of wages of daily rated workers at national level, immediate issuance of notification regarding implementation of 7th Pay Commission, release of all pending wages of daily rated workers, setting up of National Wage Commission, enhancing Medical Allowance and total exemption of DA from income tax slab.
Among others, who were also present on the occasion, included Rajan Babu Khajuria, B S Jamwal, Jaipal Sharma and Sunil Kochar.
