Shastri urges CM to announce release of DA

JAMMU, July 29: Stressing on the need for immediate release of pending installment of 7 percent DA due from July 1, 2017, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president Subash Shastri today appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to announce release of the same in favour of its employees and pensioners as relief measure and their hard earned claims to counter the prevailing level of steep inflation.
Addressing NMC workers’ rally at Gandhi Nagar, here today, the Shastri said that the State Government is already committed to extend all benefits of 7th pay commission to the State Government employees and pensioners w.e.f April 1, 2018. “Based on this decision of the State Government, the beneficiaries have to still wait for another eight months and therefore DA installment should be released at the earliest,” he added.
Shastri stated that in view of the inbuilt provisions in the current year State annual budget, there should not be any hitch for the State Government in releasing this installment of pending DA. “This compensatory measure will provide some financial relief to the all concerned, so that employees and pensioners could heave of sigh of relief,” he said.
Expressing deep concern over the discriminated approach of certain authorities in adopting Bio-Metric system, Shastri also urged Chief Minister to take stern action against defaulters resorting to partial attitude in discharge of their bonafied duty.
Shastri further reminded the Government that the issue regarding wage head for regular disbursement of monthly wages to sixty one thousand daily rated workers should also be expedited.
The Shastri also demanded total exemption of DA from income tax, enhancement in income tax exemption limit to rupees five lacs, releasing all pending dues of casual laborers working in the various departments of the State Government, increase in wages of daily wagers to rupees 350 per day and enhancing medical allowance to rupee on thousand per month in favor of pensioners.
